Staying safe with Roadside Assistance
Stay safe in the case of a breakdown by following these few simple tips on roadside assistance.
When to call for roadside assistance
Emergency roadside assistance is more than just an expensive towing service. In fact, with current technology and accessibility of parts, many common breakdown problems can be repaired or fixed in a matter of minutes by a reputable road side assistance provider. Call for roadside assistance if:
- You have broken down in a busy intersection or isolated area with limited help
- If your car appears to be symptomatic of a problem and you think driving your car any further will cause more damage (eg. Shuddering, cutting out, back firing, overheating etc)
- If you are alone and have broken down (especially at night)
If you have an idea as to the problem you are experiencing, it is always wise to mention this to your emergency roadside assistance provider to ensure they are able to best address the problem upon arrival.
Fixing the Real Problem…Roadside Assistance and Not Just Towing
When you are travelling to and from work, and the car breaks down, it may be necessary to tow the vehicle home. But towing is something you only want to do if absolutely necessary, because towing can be fraught with problems depending on the situation. But there are two terms that have managed to get mixed together and they are really entirely different things: roadside assistance and emergency towing.
Calling for roadside assistance does not necessarily mean calling for towing services when you choose a professional and qualified mobile car service. You might need your car towed, but that should always be a last alternative and not a first choice. Roadside assistance should provide real help and not just a hook-and-tow solution.
